The Probate Court provides many services to the public. These services include providing the standard Georgia forms for the probate of decedents’ wills and processing administration of estates; filing wills for safekeeping for the public; holding estate hearings; accepting filings concerning minor and adult guardianships and conservatorships and holding hearings for same; recording of all documents; processing, issuing and recording Georgia marriage licenses; and receiving applications for Georgia firearms permits and issuing those licenses once background checks are completed and approved. In addition, Rabun County's Probate Judge is appointed by the Georgia State Registrar of Vital Records and serves as the Local Registrar of Vital Records for this county, and in that capacity maintains custodial copies of Rabun County birth and death records and issues certified copies of same. |
